Fortify your home in 5 easy steps

Consider that it's 4 days after SHTF.  All the stores have been looted empty and your neighbors have run for the hills while you decided to shelter in home.  You have several small kids and all your food and water supplies are in the basement.  Your in a semi-rural area about 40 miles outside the nearest big city, so your safe right?  WRONG!!!  In 4 days the average healthy adult can walk up to 90 miles if necessary, like the pack of 2 legged wolves walking past your garage.  They spot a glimmer of light and know someone is inside.  So they take a small detour and come at your house.  You have several large picture windows as well as 3 outside entry doors on your first floor, so the gang splits up to hit each once at the same time.  Your .22 target pistol can't cover every direction at once.  NOW what do you do???  How will you protect your family and your food and water supplies?

Here are 5 easy (not necessarily cheap) ways to harden your home and make it much more difficult for anyone to break into.

1.  Use plywood to cover the inside of each opening to your home.  Buy 4'X8' sheets of 3/8" minimum plywood, then cut it to fir each window and door and secure them to the walls using multipule 2" wood screws, the more screws, the better.  Plywood is somewhat flexible and will bend but not break under normal attempts to break through it.  If 3/8 plywood isn't available when you need it, replace it with 2 sheets of 1/2" plywood.  Not as good, but better then nothing.

2.  Metal bars on the outside of each opening to your home.  Not the most attractive or cheapest idea, but it does make it much more difficult for a thief or gang of robbers to gain entry to the house.  They should be attached to the outside walls using LONG carriage bolts.  Or, depending on the construction of your home, welded to the walls.  My adobe house in Panama had that ability and it made the installation easier and more solid then just carriage bolts.

3.  Security film is used by many businesses to cover the glass on their store fronts to prevent smash and grab robberies.  It will do the same for you.  It also has the advantage of stopping flying glass from a smashed window from entering the home and injuring someone.

4.  Hurricane security shutters are exactly what they sound like, heavy-duty metal shutters used to protect homes from the high winds and flying debris caused by a hurricane.  No reason why they couldn't help keep out wolf packs coming to do you and your family harm.  But they are not common in the north or upper Midwest regions of the country, so finding them may take a little shopping.  And they are not inexpensive by any means.

5.  Entry point fortification is the final step to securing the home.  2'X4" boards are fantastic when used to block a door or window from being breeched.  The 2X4 can be nailed to the floor behind the door to prevent it from falling victim to a kick-in attack or nailed across the door in a manner similar to that used to secure castle gates in the middle ages.  It can be nailed across the windows in such a manner to prevent them from being opened.

So, 5 steps to secure your home from invasion by wolf packs, thieves or government thugs.  (I know, I'm repeating myself)  Easy to do, all it takes is some money and time and effort on your part.  You can preposition things like the plywood and 2X4's to use after SHTF.  Just make sure you cut them to size and then mark which door/window where they are to be used.  Don't forget to stock up on wood screws, nails, drills, screw drivers and hammers.  You'd feel foolish if you went to install these safety items after TEOTWAWKI and find where you forgot to get the accessories.

Couple of items from the Gloom  & Doom news today.  First it has been confirmed that maobama's birth certificate is not real.  After 2 years or research by the document experts, they determined that the type of machines used to produce the bogus document were not in use at the time of maobama's birth and they also found the signature of the forger hidden in the document.  Guess this means maobama really is a commie muslim and is not qualified to sit in the oval office.  Didn't we already know he wasn't qualified to even be a rural dog catcher?  I've never been a "birther".  My position is by the time anyone started asking those sort of questions, it was already too late.  He was in the position and screwing over the people.  Even if it can be proved that he lied (maobama?  NO!!! it can't be) he'd have to be impeached and that will never happen as long as the dems control the senate.  Harry Reid would rather give up his two biggest bribe sources then kick maobama out of office.  The man, pardon my slip of the tongue, is in because we; you, me, the media, WE, didn't do our job and give this guy the same inspection and vetting we give to every other candidate.  Now the only and best way to get rid of him is not open to us because his supporters in the senate and in big business won't let it happen.  We have a final chance this Nov. assuming the election goes off as planned and maobama doesn't start some false flag and declare martial law which will suspend the elections until HE says they can happen.  Which will probably happen around the 12th of NEVER.  If/when the false flag event happened and M.L. is declared, I hope everyone has their gear in order and supplies laid in cause it's going to get real rough, real fast.

On a different note, Iran is sending 2 warships to cruise along our east coast this spring.  They say it's in retaliation for American warships near their coast and to project their military force farther away then normal.  Sort of a "showing the flag" cruise on steroids.  The ships or "fleet" as they call it consists of a destroyer and supply ship that also carries helicopters.  I am positive the destroyer at least carries missles, but probably not nukes.  But then again, they don't have to be nukes.  They could be normal ship to shore birds that are sheathed in something like plutonium and set to explode above a city.  No EMP, but major deaths from the radiation poisoning the plutonium causes.  NO, I DO NOT THINK IRAN WILL ATTACK US.  This time anyway.  Frankly their being here doesn't bother me all that much, except they could be smuggling in spies, terrorists and or more WMD stuff.  But as they say, we have ships off their coast and it's only fair they return the compliment.  Besides a single, small destroyer and a single, slow supply ship hardly constitute a real threat to us.  New York City, maybe. but not us.  And if they did destroy NYC, would it be all that bad?  If they wanted to get rid of all the lazy leeches in our society along with the brain dead voters who elected a professed commie as their mayor, I say good for them.  Heck, the situation is similar in Boston, Washington DC and our west coast, as in CA, and is ripe for the taking also.  Boy in my wildest pipe dream I never thought I'd be greatful to Iran for anything before.  Wonder if their missles can also reach Detroit and Chicago?  Better slow down some, none of this is going to happen.  But I got a warm tingle running down my leg as I thought about it.  Thought for a minute I had a senior moment and forgot to put my Depends on.  That would have been embarrassing.

Conference of the States

This idea has been floating around for the last few months and it's time I gave everyone my thoughts on it.  Supposedly it is an article 5 of the Constitution based idea that is "supposed" to remedy all the bad things maobama has and still is doing to America.  It will modify the Constitution to put laws into effect that will strip maobama of his authority to fundamentally change America.  Sounds like a plan doesn't it?  But I'm totally against it for a number of reasons.

1. maobama isn't following the current Constitution anyway, so what makes them think adding new Constitutional limitations is going to matter to him?  He is rewriting laws,  even his own, and ignoring the Constitution as I write and nothing they put down on paper will make any difference to him.  From maobama's view point he is the law unto himself.

2. We already have a process to make changes to the Constitution that's worked for over 200 years, why do we need to begin a new one?  If these people want some modifications to the Constitution, propose an amendment and let it go through the normal method and have the people decide if they like, want and need it.

3. My last and strongest objection to this conference of the states is that it will lay the whole Constitution open to change.  And there are no guarantees that the conference won't be hijacked by radicals and we end up with a totalitarians wet dream of a perfect society, with them in charge of course.  Once you start changing the Constitution through these types of means, the chances for a disaster skyrocket.  Maybe, if we had responsible people making the changes, I'd consider modifying my position on the conference.  But where today do we find responsible people to make such decisions?  I somehow doubt that a person like me, who doesn't have an ax to grind, will find himself at such a conference.  Instead it will be the same cowardly idiots that have allowed the country to fall so far and I wouldn't trust ANY of them to tie their own shoes, let alone craft a new, better Constitution for us.  Oh, I forgot to mention that this conference, if it comes off, will stand alone with the decisions.  There will be no vote by the rest of us saying if we agree to the changes or not.  It's not like an amendment where 36 of the 50 states have to vote yes to the change before it goes into effect.  Not like the original Constitution either that had to go through a similar process, which is why we have the Bill of Rights.  Colonial states wanted better safeguards built into the document before they would sign it.  With this conference of the states we don't get that luxury.  They decide and we have to like it or lump it.

We went through this back in the 1990's when they (don't remember who they are) proposed a Con-Con or conference on the Constitution.  The same rationales were given and the same arguments were put forth.  The proposers couldn't give the assurances that the Con-Con wouldn't be taken over by the big government proponents or that the conference attendees wouldn't be bribed to give away all our rights.  Guess what, the proponents of the conference of the states still can't give those assurances.  I'll go back to my assertion above that our Constitution has worked for over 200 years and will work today.  If the so-called leaders of our country grew a backbone and a set of principles and forced maobama to abide within the boundries set for the office of president.  No change to the Constitution will change that simple fact.  It's up to BOTH houses of congress to either rein him in or kick him out of the office if he tries to increase his authority by fiat.  There is going to be a fight over maobama's dictatorial abuses of the Constitution and the people, let it be the right one and happen within congress, the court system or the street.  But lets not take any chances with fixing what ain't broke.  The problem isn't the Constitution, it's the fact that our spineless representatives in DC aren't doing their job.  But it's easier to blame a piece of paper that can't argue back then admit they're the ones who screwed to pooch in the first place.

Today's survival thoughts are on building a survival group.  No family will be able to make it on their own once the SHTF.  Not unless they have beau coup kids or lots of brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, parents, etc. that are of one mind and that come together when the crunch hits.  Otherwise there just aren't enough hands to take care of every detail to running a self-sustaining retreat, or enough skills to handle every emergency that comes down the pike.  So your going the have to recruit from outside the family.  But how do you know which potential recruit is what your looking for.  It ain't easy telling if a person is trustworthy, honest and a hard worker.  That takes time and a set of objectives each new potential recruit should meet.  Here is an outline of how we are handling recruiting in my group.

1.  The initial interview.  Look for them maintaining eye contact with you as you question the potential recruit.  See if he/she is evasive about their past, their skills and their experiences.  If possible run a criminal background check on them.  Get a good gut feeling about them and then decide if you think they should go to the next level.  Don't make that decision as you talk, tell them you'll discuss it with the group and get back to them.  And do just that.  Tell the group your impressions and let the whole group decide about going to the next step.

2, Probationary period.  I like the idea of having a 6 month probationary period before the final vote is taken.  Make sure the recruit understands that he/she will be evaluated by all the established members during the probation and all it takes is one member blackballing them to remove them from further contact with the group.  During the 6 months the recruit must make every meeting and training session.  There  should be few excuses that are acceptable and lay those out to the recruit when you offer the probationary status to them.  During the 6 months, closely observe the recruit.  Do they pitch in to help get things done or do they need to be prodded to join in doing any labor?  Do they maintain a good attitude and have good relationship with the other members?  Are they on time for meets/training?  Do they have the required gear or are they making an honest attempt to get it?  Are their supplies up to minimums or are they building it up as fast as they can?  Do they teach their skills to others automatically or do they need to be pushed into it?  There are many other areas that need to be watched as they go through the probation period, but you get the idea.

3.  The final vote.  As in the show "Survivor", each recruit has to pass a final vote to see if they are accepted into the group as full-fledged, voting members.  As stated above, all it takes is one no vote and they are out.  Prior to the final vote let the recruit make a statement to the group saying why he/she wants to become a full time member.  After that the recruit is asked to leave the area while the members discuss his/her suitability for the group.  When everyone has had their say the vote is taken.  Assuming the recruit is accepted, all responsibilities and duties of a member now fall on them.

This is a time consuming process to get new members, but it is necessary to be assured that the new member is the right person in the right place at the right time.  Making a quick decision about a potential member can be very dangerous to the group as a whole or the individual members.  Bad people are usually adept at hiding their true personalities, for a while.  But over a 6 month probationary period and working along side the group members, a bad person will make mistakes that show them for who they really are and that's what this is all about.  The absolute last thing a group needs during a disaster is to find out a member that was hurried through is really a thief, or pervert or substance abuser, etc.  So take your time and be as sure as you possibly can before you offer them full membership.

On a side note, most groups have a dues system to help in making expensive group purchases.  During the probationary period the recruit should not be required to pay dues.  If they are not voted into the group, for any reason, they will have to be paid back and that may come at a time when the treasury is a little low.  Also, having them pay dues like a full member gives them a false impression that they are already in and that can lead to hard feelings if they are voted off the island.  Finally, keep sensitive information, such as the retreat location, away from recruits until they are voted in.  Again, a rejected person who knows all the secrets can prove to be dangerous during a crisis and lead other, less friendly people to your retreat, caches, etc.  Follow these sensible rules or make up your own (either way is OK if it works for you) and you should be able to gain good new members and keep your security at the same time.

Somewhat slow news day

Not a lot of new things to get riled up about in todays news.  There was an article about terrorism within our borders and against our power grid.  Back in Dec. 2013 there was a report about a terror attack on a CA electrical sub-station, but details were scarce.  Now they're out and it seems we have more to worry about then we thought.  During the attack, which lasted 19 minutes, snipers were able to destroy 17 transformers and did enough damage to the sub-station to shut it down for a month.  Investigators found over 100 fired shell casings that had no fingerprints on them scattered around the station as well as small piles of rocks that a recon scout placed to show the snipers the best shooting spots.  Interesting that this terror attack happened and the main stream media ignored it to report on the latest arrest of J. Beiber.

Did you know that nuclear plants are not required to be protected from attacks by air craft, even after 9/11?  Nor are they required to protect themselves from mass attacks by large groups of terrorists?  Or not even against snipers with high powered rifles.  So what do they protect themselves from?  Anti-nuke protestors?  Us?

Did you know that about 40% of all computer breeches against government civilian agencies are not detected?  That data, such as which American dams are the weakest and how many lives will be lost if/when they are breeched or the cyber-security plans for EVERY nuclear power plant, have been stolen.  And that just is the tip of that Titanic sized ice burg.

Does all this information make you feel any less safe?  Well it's supposed to.  Think about how you'll feel when the power is out for a month or more and you still have to feed your family or where do you run when a radioactive cloud is approaching your home.  Think the government will be there to help you?  Then think about the northeast and hurricane Sandy and how FEMA wasn't there to help with food, shelter and, especially, heat.  Any sort of terrorism against the grid that results in a shutdown for a length of time could be the tipping point that maobama needs to declare himself god on earth and king for eternity.  Why else do you think that every government agency, except the military, is wide open to hackers or why the grid is so vulnerable to physical attack like the one last Dec. in CA?  Maobama needs something to be the false flag he's waiting for and that can't be traced directly back to him.  And a terrorist taking out Hoover dam and causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people will fit the bill for him.  Of course if that sort of attack doesn't happen or isn't that destructive, he'll create one on his own.  But any terror attack, especially one he can lay on the backs of some right-wing militia group, would suit him to a tee.

Finally, for my usual gloom and doom info, there is a report that the US Postal Service is soliciting bids for the purchase of a large quantity of ammunition in various calibers.  Yes, the same Post Office that says it's out of money and needs a transfusion from congress, has the cash to buy ammo.  HUH!  Since when does the post office need "large quantities of ammunition in various calibers" in the first place?  Yes they have a couple thousand or so postal inspectors that are armed, but why so much ammo and why such a variety of calibers?  Were they going to arm the mail carriers?  Man I hope not.  These people have a hard time remembering their routes.  Or are they acting as a dodge for another agency that has taken a lot of heat for buying up lots of ammo without good reason, like say the DHS?  No one knows or isn't talking.  But what's next MRAP delivery vehicles?

Finally, now that all the gloom & Doom news is over for the day, it's time for the survival tip.  Today it sort of goes along with the G&D news in today's post.  IF/when a terror attack does disrupt the grid or releases a cloud of radioactive death and it's time to bug out, where do you go and what do you take with you.  First part needs some very clear thinking or you may end up in a FEMA camp.  Or worse, robbed and left for dead with no supplies.  Or even worse, your dead and your family is at the mercy of a pack of two-legged animals.  So you need a plan and a destination.  Choose your destination carefully and keep it know only to your immediate family and any other fellow survivalists who are coming with you.  Next you need to plan several routes to the location and then make practice runs there using each different route so everyone can find their way to the location or change the route mid-trip if problems arise such as official or unofficial road blocks on your path.  Since you don't know how long the trip may take under the stressful situation or how many detours you'll have to make, you should hide some caches along each route and keep them locations secret, known only to your fellow travelers.  Finally, you will not know how long this bug out is going to last, possibly forever, you need to also cache extra supplies safely at or very near the location.  No matter how well you pack your vehicle, it can't carry enough supplies to last you indefinitely.  As for what supplies your going to need, only you can decide that.  But the earlier posts on everyday carry items and bug out bags are a good starting point and you can build from there.  Two final things to share.  First, always, always, ALWAYS keep your weapons loaded and handy while traveling.  Out of easy sight, but handy.  People will be scared and scared people do dumb things, like try to steal what's yours because they aren't prepared.  I'm begging you (it's not easy typing on my knees) to practice with your firearms and HAVE THEM READY WHEN THE SCHUMER HITS THE FAN.  Second, since these troubles can happen at the most inappropriate times, like driving to or from work or on a long drive to see aunt Martha, always keep your everyday carry items and bug out bag with you, in your vehicle.  Just in case.  You might not have a chance to return home and have to bug out with what you have with you.  So go over those two posts and add or subtract what does or doesn't work for you and build your own B.O. bag and EDC items NOW!  Remember that God helps those who help themselves and that fortune favors the prepared.  So get prepared and God will smile on you.

Things are starting to heat up.

If my posts these last few days seem like tin hat territory to some of you, consider that I'm not alone in my concerns.  In the last 3 weeks the Dow has fallen 1,000 points and reports are that many of the super rich are getting completely out of stocks and into hard cash.  Not that paper is not hard.  They're buying precious metals in bulk, which is why various minting facilities around the world are on over-time to try to catch up with the demand.  Gold, silver and platinum prices are still at a low, but won't stay there forever.  I can see a sharp rise in prices as demand continues, so if you are still on the fence about precious metals, now is the time to decide.  And I strongly advise that you decide to buy before it's to late.

In fairness to the Dow and those who wish to continue to ignore the situation, the Dow has had drops like this before and it's always said to be a "market correction".  But tell me this, hasn't most corrections occurred during more settled times then now?  And hasn't recent "corrections" been taken care of by additional Fed QE whatever the number is?  The bubble is about to burst and anyone still strong in stocks will be hurt.  Possibly terminally.  In the late 1970's I was struck with the stupid desease and got my stock broker and insurance sales license.  Turns out I'm not meant to be a salesman, so I quickly was hit with a dose of common sense and went back to doing what I was supposed to.   But at that time all the talk at the office I worked out of was what will happen when the Dow hits 1,000?  Well it hit it in the early 1980's.  Today it's near 15,000.  Do any of you feel 15 times richer now then back then?  I sure don't.  Personal incomes are higher, if you have work, but inflation has taken away any real benefits of that rise.  American productivity has risen 73% since then, but personal incomes, taking inflation into consideration, has only risen 8%.  So what does all this clamor about the market mean?  It means my thoughts yesterday about the upcoming economy collapse may not be so far fetched after all.  Take it as you will, I can only tell you what I see and think as well as advise you on where to go to protect yourself.  I'm definitely not a stock market brainiac by any means.  But one of my readers is so lets see how he refutes my conclusions.

If I'm an escapee from a funny farm, it appears that others in DC are also.  Reports are that maobama has given readiness orders to his personal army the JSOC, the Joint Special Operations Command.  If that's a new one for you, don't be alarmed cause it was new to me too.  I do remember an announcement years ago about a "small strike force" to go anywhere to stop America's enemies or something like that.  It was originally just a few people, but has grown somewhat over time.  It now numbers 25,000 ex-special ops troops, former seals, delta force, SF and rangers who are under the direct command of Barak Hussain Obama.  One was interviewed by the Washington Post back in 2011 and here's what he said, "We are the dark matter.  We're the force that orders the universe, but can't be seen."  Humble aren't they?  Real comforting that they report directly to maobama, the Marxist from Africa.  Supposedly they have been put on high alert pending the market crash and subsiquent economic collapse that's coming soon.  Are they the reason the government has bought 1.6 billion rds. of hollow point ammo; 2,700 MRAPs and ordered 6 million doses of potassium iodine to be delivered by the end of THIS MONTH?  According to sources the JSOC is the tip of the spear, while DHS is the shaft, no pun intended.  Is my tin hat getting tighter, maybe.  But, again, I'm not alone.  In October of last year Global Research asked why JSOC and DHS have gone through such a massive and quick build-up.  They questioned the need for such an armed force, directly under maobama's command when he has the military at his beck and call.  They didn't have any answers either, but they sure had the questions.  For those who don't think maobama would use the military against American citizens, think again.  In 2008, during the latest British financial meltdown, P.M. Brown had his hand right next to the phone to call in the troops if the citizens were in open revolt over the situation.  As was reported he said that when it comes the time where Brits couldn't get food, petrol or cash and windows started breaking; everyone would join in to get something for their families and we can't allow that to happen.  So the British P.M. was ready to turn the bayonets against the very people who elected him, what can possibly make you think maobama wouldn't do the same?  And when the troops refused to fire on their fellow citizens, he has his private army of jack-booted thugs to do it.  And if you don't think they kill Americans on order, think back to that survey made during the early 1990's where Seals on the west coast were asked if they'd fire on Americans who refused to turn in their guns.  29% said they would shoot Americans if so ordered.  Now think about who makes up the manpower of JSOC and tell me again that maobama wasn't able to find enough killers in our special forces to fill out his army.  Or think about the incident at Ruby Ridge in 1992 when an FBI sniper shot and killed an unarmed, nursing mother as she held her baby.  Yes, he was FBI, but he was a former army special forces trained sniper, recruited by the FBI for his rifle skills.  There are killers in every aspect of society and all you have to do is look for them.  That's another reason for all those QE's from the Fed.  They bought maobama the time he needed to find and recruit those thugs for his army, then train them and finally equip them.  The massive buys in the last 18 months have completed the process and maobama thinks he and his legions from hell are ready.  So the Fed has downsized current QE's and says it will stop any further attempts to control the market.  All the pieces are now in place and it's time for maobama to make his move into the history books as the first America Marxist king for life.  He thinks he has all the cards, but I think he's wrong.  Let's prove me right.

I promised that I'd start posting daily survival tips to try to stop being a gloom and doom reporter.  So here is today's tip.  Or tips as there are several.

1st. look for a new product called X-STAT from a company called RevMedX. It's a revolutionary way to stop arterial bleeding caused by a projectile impact with the body in areas that are difficult to tourniquate such as the shoulder or pelvis.  It's not for general sale as yet, only to 1st responders and official government personnel.  But it will be available from the black market soon I believe and is something that I think we're all going to need in the very near future.

2nd. proper hydration is especially necessary in times of stress and who can say these times are not stressful.  So make sure you have a good supply of water on hand and the means to get more.  If you have a stream, lake or pond on or close to your property, have the means to purify it.  I use Katyden filters, but there are many others that work just as well.  A newer company (to me at least) that has joined the ranks is "Waterwise"  They offer a non-electric water distiller for $387 + SHP that works off the range top or camp stove to clean the water before you use it.  They also offer air filtration devices that might be useful to.  Their address is www.waterwise.com

3rd. no one ever thinks about vitamins in a survival situation, but they should.  Vitamins are almost as necessary as water during times of stress, yet no one seems to stockpile them.  Go to the local Dollar Store and pick up some bottles of the widest variety of contained vitamins and minerals as you can find.  Get enough to last your family for a year and don't worry much about expiration dates.  Those are lawyer talk for "don't sue me" from the manufacturer.  Even if they are out of date and losing some potency, they are still viable and needed.

I promise that my survival tips will get better and more relevant as time goes along.  But today's post took a while to research and then type with my two spelling fingers.  Maybe when/if my tin hat goes away or turns to rust, whatever, I can do more concentrating on good old survivalism.

And to reinforce the e-mail I sent each of you.  Use my e-mail at oldnamvet0@gmail.com to make comments or ask questions.  I'll answer them in the post your asking about and credit you by your initials.

Lots of interesting things in today's news

First let me say that this blog has beat me.  I can't find a way to add comments directly to each post.  So you can send me comments/questions at oldnamvet0@gmail.com  I'll acknowledge the sender by their initials and answer them at the commented post.  A little clumber some, but it's the best I can do for now.  Besides when I look at other, similar blogs they handle the problem the same way, so I'm not the only computer illiterate in the field.

Today Supreme Court of the U.S. Antonin Scalia was quoted as saying he believes the maobama administration is quite capable of interning American citizens for undetermined amounts of time to quell political opposition.  He said that he believes that America had not outgrown the prospect of internment.  This is a policy that was used in WW2 by Roosevelt to imprison Japanese people living in the U.S., both resident aliens and citizens.  They were held in internment camps along the west coast and Hawaii without trial or without even being charged of a crime.  But they were a potential source of sabotage according to the administration and so were forced from their homes and kept there for years.  The public reason given was to "protect" them from angry Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor, but that was a smoke screen to allow the government to do as they pleased.  If you doubt it could happen again, think NDAA, "The National Defense of America Act" that allows maobama, or whoever is in charge, to put a citizen into a Guantanomo (SP?) type camp for as long as they like, no charges may ever be made and no lawyers will be allowed to intervene.  Nor will families be told where the internees are or allowed to communicate with them in any way.

Grady Means isn't a well known name, but he has quite a resume.  A Mises scholar and fellow, an economist for many government agencies, advisor to Nelson Rockefeller and CEO of several multi billion dollar corporations.  In 2012 he wrote that the 2012 economic crash (which he also predicted several years in advance) would pale in comparison to the crash that's coming on or around March 3, 2014.  And that when this crash hits, it will cause world economies to crash along with it.  He describes it a the "Financial Armageddon" and will make the fiasco in 1929 look like a minor market correction.  Don't know if he's right, but his track record makes me take his warning to heart.  especially when the latest report from the Institute of Supply Management that states store are slowing down on reorders to stock their shelves. Sort of like they know something bad is coming.  Then the report that banks are seriously considering restricting the amount of money customers can withdrawal.  this is possible since accounts are actually loans and will be repaid at the convience of the bank.  Are banks preparing for a run???  Finally there is the report by the Dept. of Agraculture that the number of cattle in America is the smallest since 1951.

Then I go back to what maobama's administration has done in the last 12 months.  First he buys 2,700 armored vehicles for his private army, then buys over a billion rounds of combat capable ammunition for that private army of his, ammo that isn't good for practice and, lastly, they ordered 6 million doses of potassium iodine to be delivered by the END OF FEBURARY!  Plus the debt ceiling debate will begin in a few short weeks and must be agreed upon before the end of the month or we go into default on all our debts.

Is this all just an old man's pipe dream and a series of odd coincidences?  Don't know, but it does boggle the mind a bit.  Am I going to run out and go on a wild spending spree to stock up on a wide variety of things to keep my family fed and safe when this crash hits?  Not exactly, but I will increase my buying of items I'd have bought anyway and speed up the timed purchases every survivalist makes.  And I'll make sure my family and fellow group members are close to each other at that time.  But I refuse to panic.  As a survivalist I've been prepping for something like this for a while now and there isn't much more I can do in the time that's supposedly left and with the limited amount of money I have.  But, if it does happen, I'll be like everyone else and wish I had some more time.

Like the title says, lots of interesting things today.  Especially when you look at them along with recent actions by maobama and his cohorts.  Not a time to panic and it all may be another Y2K fiasco for all I know.  So make up your own mind and then act on your decision.  I have and am, you should too.

This blog seems to have morphed into a political outrage forum where I pour out my frustrations and anger, rather then the survival oriented blog I originally envisioned.  Sorry and I promise to get back to the goal of spreading survival knowledge instead of venting my rants.  Like tomorrow when I post links to give you additional sources of information to make your survival journey easier.  And I further promise to have at least some survival tidbits in every post from now on.

More signs of the upcoming economic disaster.

Matt Drudge started it when he twittered the 4 word message "have an exit plan".  No explaination, just the cryptic warning.  Then today another economic guru said he expects a "run in the banks" in the near future.  In fact he's so certain that he's pulled almost all his money out of his bank.  To the tune of almost a million bucks.  He gives his reasons for the action as the reign of Bernanke and the start to Yellen's term as Fed chief.  Said he sees no discernible difference between the two of them or their policies.  He expects the Fed to do another QE whatever to further push the inflation of the money supply.  He also expects the government to pull a Cyprus and steal money right out of our accounts.  I'm not 100% sure about all his predictions, but enough to pass his warning on to all of you.  This administration has shown it's complete lack of respect for the Constitution and it's willingness to go beyond the written bounds to achieve their goals of subverting the American way of life, to "fundamentally change" America.  So I'll take matt's warning and this economic professor's warnings to heart and plan accordingly.

Frankly nothing maobama does or will do surprises me anymore and that makes me keep my eyes open and my money where it's safe.  I only keep enough money in the bank to cover my monthly bills and a little extra in case of an emergency.  The rest is in food, durable goods and precious metals.  Something tells me that is where it will do me and mine the most good with what is coming down the pike at breakneck speed.  When liberals like this economics professor tells us to put our money where the government can't get at it, it's time to head for the bunker and lock the doors.

I didn't watch the super bowl yesterday.  I was supposed to go to my son's house and watch it with him, but the chemo that I restarted this week has laid me low.  I was all set when I re-evaluated my condition and decided I was better off staying home where it was warm and I had help if I got any worse.  He was a bit miffed from what I was told, but it couldn't be helped.  Weakness, dizziness and upset stomach don't make for good company.  That makes twice this past week where I've had to cancel a family event.  I was supposed to take my grand daughter shooting again last Thursday, but the same symptoms were present, so I begged off.  I know Sarah was disappointed, but it would have been worse if I passed out right in front of her at a strange place with no help immediately available.  There were supposed to be two other women at the range with us from my group, a Mom and her daughter, and I'll need to do something to make it up to them as well.  Well, no one ever said life was fair or easy and we all know that sometimes the Lord has an unusual sense of humor.  Usually it's when He's trying to get our attention and we're not listening.  So he has to really rein us in a bit until we settle down and actually listen to what He's telling us.  Guess this was one of those times.  Well Lord, you definitely got my attention.  Besides, the way Seattle whipped Denver, it must have been a pretty boring game.  Unless your a Seattle fan, which I'm not.  Not Denver fan either, but I do enjoy a good game and this probably wasn't one.

Finally we're in for another big snow storm these next two days,  Yeah, just what we needed.  But don't worry, it's all global warming's fault and we all know that our excessive use of cars and cows farting cause global warming.  Or was the cow farts eating away the ozone layer, I forget.  Whatever, our man in DC will take care of us and all it will cost us is every freedom guaranteed in the Constitution and fought for these past 250 odd years.  But not to worry, Daddy maobama and his cohorts will change our diapers, bottle feed us genetically modified milk, burp us and, when we go to school, will make sure the courses we take will make us dumber while keeping us smart enough to be good worker drones.  Not to worry, maobama knows best and has our best interests at heart.  As well as all our wealth and individuality in his back pocket.  So shut up and go back to watching Survivor or American Idol.  Your too stupid to do anything else.  Or so maobama and his ilk seem to think.  I think we're about to surprise him.  Won't that be fun?  Even more fun then Michelle serving him with divorce papers.

Someone's been using our playbook

I just became aware of a document called the "Powell Memorandum" that was written in 1971 by a lawyer who later that year was nominated to the supreme court by pres. Nixon.  The memorandum was written at the request of a senior member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerice and in it he outlines a "battle plan" for conservatives to stop the steady decline of America and it's values.  If you get a chance, google it and read it for yourself.  It's a single page and is a short, easy read.  But the main point I got from reading it is that the GOP, who originally asked for the document through the CoC, quit using it and went back to the original, losing strategy that has worked against them for so long.  While the liberals/progressives (read democrats) continue to follow the guidelines against the rest of us.  The main thesis is that conservatives must stop attempting to work with the liberals and instead begin attacking them, verbally and through legislation.  It was the cornerstone to Reagans plans and we all know how well that worked then.  I understand that the GOP of today is a mere shadow of what it was 30 or 40 years ago and possibly will never regain the stature Reagan gave it.  But I wonder if ANY of the so-called leaders of the GOP have ever read the memo, let alone understand it?  Instead they keep giving ground to the libs in hopes that someone, somewhere will like them.  I say, forget about being liked and shoot instead for being respected or even feared.  The old adage that nice guys finish last is no where better represented then with the current GOP.  All nice guys, but would you want them to run the country?  For me the answer is a resounding, "HELL NO".

On a slightly different tack I was very disappointed to read where one of the tea party favorites is cozying up to the GOP leadership.  He hopes, I guess, to win their approval for the 2016 nomination.  But if he thinks he can have it both ways, he has sadly underestimated the resolve and long term memory of the tea party that helped put him in office in the first place.  I know you are not one of my readers, Rand Paul, but others are and they will help spread the word of your betrayal, as will the other conservative, tea party news outlets.  This one move has probably sunk ANY possibility of you getting the nomination, let alone winning the election.  That is too bad, you were our shining star, now your just another RINO in the making.  Your father must be very proud.  I know I'm not.  But it does leave a void in our selections.  We already have discounter Rubio and Christie.  Now with Paul going to the dark side who do we have left?  As of right now it's Ted Cruz, providing he can survive the scrutiny he'll get for his Canadian citizenship. There is no one else on the horizon for us conservatives.  I'm wondering if Scott Walker (R-WI) or Col. West would consider running.  Frankly neither is my first choice, considering what little I know of their voting record and terms in office.  It's a big step and not one taken lightly, but we're running out of hero's.  If someone is going to champion our cause and lead us back to the right track for America, he/she better step up quickly.  The way the media is pushing for people's attention for that election, one has to start early to garner the name recognition needed to have a fighting chance.

A final item concerning a post I made several days ago concerning the new policy by HSBC bank in England.  After many loud and almost violent protests by their customers, they have recinded the withdrawal requirements placed on the customers.  They stated that it was just part of their policy to help protect the customers and that it had "always been part of the banks policy".  Why they choose to implement it now was not answered, nor did they apologize for the hardships they had put their customers through.  So I guess that even in complacent jolly old England you can still rile people up enough to get them working together to remove a imposition on their rights.  Now if we can just get Americans equally riled up about maobama and his pen/phone policies, as well as his other criminal activities, we can get him out of office and into prison where he belongs.  I really want him legally tried and hung for treason, but I'll settle for a life in prison with no possibility of parole.  And no congical visitation rights either.  Let the other inmates treat him the same way he's been treating American citizens these last 5 years.  Let them screw him over and over and over.  Poetic justice.
